How to Access our Data
None of the sheets of illustrations in the Fritsch Collection are searchable on line as yet although work is in progress and half the Desmid section has already been digitized. While there is a complete card index, about  one third of the references quoted on the sheets are searchable from the Author References page.
Access to the sheets of Illustrations is by personal visit or can be made by sending an enquiry to the Curator by letter, phone or e-mail. Searches by the Curator can only be for limited information and small charges may be made to cover costs or for copies.
How to Visit the Collection
The Collection is housed in the headquarters of the Freshwater Biological Association, on the west shore of Windermere (by the ferry slipway), on the B5285 - The nearest main line railway station is 'Oxenholme Lake District', on the main West Coast Line, with a branch line to Windermere. Visitors, especially FBA members, are all most welcome at the Freshwater Biological Association Windermere. We have available a limited space for anyone wishing to spend time working with the Fritsch Collection: non-members and long-term visitors may be asked for a bench fee. Initial enquiries should be made to Dr. E.Y.Haworth, the Curator.
